A Few Simple Everyday Ways To Live Green

The argument around carbon emissions and climate change is very much in the public domain, and a lot of folks are highly aware of the relevant factors. A number of you may feel obliged to do something but you may not know what to do or where to begin. Fortunately, there are a lot of relatively simple ways to lend a useful hand, without having to be a hero. A number of small things you can do are mentioned below.

1. Avoid using a desktop PC when you can work on a laptop

Computers today are widely used, with hundreds applications. Laptops use approximately half the energy used by a desktop PC, so use a laptop if possible. Additionally, never mind being more inexpensive, laptops are light and compact and can be taken along to virtually all places you go to.

2. If it’s not too far, walk

It’s a sad fact, but driving an automobile equals pollution. The burning of petrol makes an automobile run, but a byproduct is carbon dioxide and other deadly fumes released into the atmosphere. The volume of gases from cars poisoning the air each day is large, given the vast number of cars in use globally. To make less of a negative impact on the environment, we must walk instead of drive. Try to walk whenever the opportunity presents itself, but don’t beat yourself up if it just isn’t possible. Any quick trips by car can likely be replaced by walking without any real consequence. You’ll not simply reduce emissions put out into the air but you will also save money on petrol as well as get some workout out of it.

3. Don’t leave the taps running when you’re brushing your teeth

As water is only a turn of the tap away, we use it unthinkingly, and waste a lot as we do so. Leaving the water to run while you clean your teeth wastes water. Just imagine: you should brush your teeth for two minutes and in two minutes a good deal of water will be wasted down the drain. A good idea is to merely fill a cup with water and use that to rinse your mouth out because less water goes to waste.

4. Showering uses less water

Baths use up a great deal more water and electricity than showers, so it’s best to have a shower instead of a bath. Simply remember not to luxuriate in the shower; stay for too long and you’re back to squandering water. Make sure you shower for a short time otherwise you may as well have had a bath!

5. Remember to turn the lights off

If you’re not in a room then avoid leaving the light on. If there’s no one in it, a room may as well be dark. Doing this is not just beneficial to the environment, but also to your bank account. And turn the lights off when it’s sunny outside; you should have enough natural light indoors.

These green living tips are simple and cheap. Actually, they’ll probably save you money. Let’s go then, don’t wait – the earth needs you!
